Debbie,   My mother first explained a funeral to me as a celebration of life & I know it's true.    I could never sing or speak at such an occasion - I would just blubber & cry (even tho I knew it was part of the circle of life, etc).   When my MIL passed, I wrote a poem & my Daughter read it at the service.   Even she almost didn't get thru it without blubbering, so it must be heredity.
Hugs to you,
Jan

Hugs right back at you Jan!

Yes funerals are for the living not the ones who are in a better place. My Spirituality if for-front in whom I am. I've always been real with people who are dying. My mom says it's a gift that God has given me and I believed her, celebrating others lives and how they lived that life.

Personally I think others that reach out and serve/outreach to those in need just shine. Just listening helps...but in the end, serving others is so rewarding. My MIL did that.

Debbie,

Sending loving thoughts your way on the loss of your MIL, sounds like you gave her what she needed to move on. . .

Glad to read you are feeling like your old self too!

Hugs, Laureen

Debbie, I'm sorry about your MIL but as you said she is in a better place.

As for the circle of life, I felt that way last year when my Aunt Bernice died ... she died on a Saturday night and her great-granddaughter was born on Monday morning ...reminded me of the song, "And when I die, there'll be one child born and the world to carry on ..."

It's so true.

Amen! Life indeed does continue.
My other SD just called she also wants to sing at Grandma's Celebration of Life, she has chosen Swing Low Sweet Chariot. I love it when grandkids want to celebrate our lives and take an active part in the service, another grandson is going to play the piano. We will have lots of music!

Deb  I am sorry for your loss  but agree  that the ending of a life well lived  is a time for letting go,  remembering.  KNowing where your mil woke up Saterday afternoon  does make it  easier.

Good morning, Off Friends,

Mom is adjusting to her new home day by day.   Today, I will take her to the doctor.   Physically, she's recovering quite well.   The dementia continues to be more of a problem and I think she will always require more assistance because of that.    I am beginning to feel that she is safe and comfortable, even when I'm not there.     I will still see her every day for awhile longer just to be sure.

Today we take her to the Doctor.   Hopefully he may have some idea how to help the fact that she wakes up to urinate about 7 times each night - way too often.   This disturbs her sleep and the sleep of the caregivers.   I hope he'll have a suggestion other than sleeping pills.

Have a great day & thanks again for all the loving support!
